“She’s not a girl who misses much.

I was reading a blog the other day – I think it was a travel blog, because the girl was rambling semi-coherently about Greece, but it might have been a food blog because she was griping about Greek restaurants, too. I won’t link to the blog because apparently this lil’ dumplin’ is not happy that restaurants in Greece don’t always have everything that they list on their menus. Sorry, darlin’, but I don’t think there’s an Applebee’s in Mykonos.

Do you know why some menus in Greece read “Small fish and “Big fish? It's the catch of the day. They serve what was caught that day. They don’t get their fish frozen from Sysco – they buy whatever the fishermen catch that morning. Now, I realize that your Mrs. Paul’s fishstick taste probably won’t palate the Small Fish we ordered: sardines at the place in Nafpaktos, fried whole in olive oil, or roasted whole with tomatoes, oregano and garlic, or fileted and served cold in a rich olive oil, lemon and garlic sauce at a little restaurant in Athens. I know, I know - it's different! It's weird! It's not on a bun!

Well, sorry, princess, but next time, just stay home. Go to The Olive Garden. If the thought of eating like the locals when you travel is just too icky, then don’t travel. Or at least don’t travel outside the US. It’s embarrassing.
